"The life of every man is a diary in which he means to write one story, and writes another; and his humblest hour is when he compares the volume as it is with what he vowed to make it." - J.M. Barrie, Peter Pan

A personal note... when reading James Fenimore Cooper (Colonial NJ/NY, 1789-1851), Rudyard Kipling (Raj India,1865-1936) and John le Carre (Post War England, 1931-2020) I find that each seem to share a familiar pen though they are separated in time by several generations from one another, had lived on separate continents, in differing cultures, and written in different genres (as given above). Yet, having read most of the three writer's works I feel there is a great familiarity between their story telling, characters and exploits. I came to Kipling first, then Cooper, and finally Le Carre. See what you think.... - re slater
